Press Release
On Tuesday February 28, the “The Fire Museum”, located at 230 Pine Street in Manchester, Connecticut suffered a water damage incident. A pipe located in the attic of the museum burst during a period of extreme low temperatures allowing water to flow down into the main portion of the museum and into storage areas.
Members of the Connecticut Firemen’s Historical Society and local Town of Manchester officials initiated an immediate response. Museum artifacts affected by the flood have been removed to a nearby secure facility for evaluation, conservation and protection. Cleanup of the affected areas of the building is nearing completion and the Board of Directors of “The Fire Museum” is currently assessing the incident’s impact on opening for the 2006 season. Please visit our web site at www.thefiremuseum.org for updated information as it becomes available.
The Connecticut Firemen’s Historical Society wishes to convey our heartfelt thanks to the Manchester Historical Society, Manchester Fire, Rescue & EMS, and various Manchester Town agencies, including Parks and Recreation, Building Department, Public Works Department and the Town Manager’s office. Their quick response to our emergency and commitment to help us as neighbors is greatly appreciated.
